International Colloquium Communication and Culture within Romance Space, 4th edition:
PERSONALITIES, PHENOMENA AND MOMENTS IN THE EVOLUTION OF ROMANCE SPACE
2nd-3rd October 2015, Timisoara, Romania
Born from the desire to create an academic expression environment of those concerned with the study of Romance, the International Colloquium Communication and Culture within Romance Space (CICCRE), at its fourth edition, intends to emphasise the dynamic and perennial harmony of Romance Europianism, as well as the complexity of this fervent space of culture, language and civilization.
Aiming to keep alive the understanding of the fact that we are links of an ongoing humanity, the theme of the present colloquium, Personalities, Phenomena and Moments in the Evolution of Romance Space, favours preserving the active memory and highlighting authentic Romance consciousness. Furthermore, identifying similarities and then seeing what goes beyond similarities in the process of defining identity through otherness, of present by reference to the past, should be the main reason of our life, a modus vivendi sine qua non. Therefore, the event is dedicated to literary, scientific and cultural personalities of Latin heritage, as well as to major events that have marked the becoming of this complex linguistic and literary space, and their paradigmatic role and irradiating force of ideas.
Our colloquium is happy to celebrate the750th anniversary of Dante Alighieri’s birth, as one of the illustrious personalities of the universal culture. The event is also dedicated to another cultural personality, the Portuguese poet and writer, Fernando Pessoa, at 80 years from his death.
Teachers, scholars, researchers, PhD students and all those concerned with Romance are thus invited to submit papers on various topics, identified in one of the sections intended to crystallize the theme of the colloquium: Latin Language and Literature, Italian Language and Literature, French Language and Literature, Portuguese Language and literature, Romanian Language and Literature, Spanish Language and Literature, Cultural Studies, Translation Studies, Didactics of Romance Languages, History and Theology, Arts, Music and Theatre.
Organizers and Partners
The colloquium is organized by the West University of Timişoara and the Romance Studies Center of Timisoara, in partnership with the University of Szeged (Hungary) and the Romanian Institute of Culture and Humanistic Research in Venice.
The present edition is under the patronage of Portugal’s Embassy in Bucharest and IP Camões Institute, which is why our scientific event has been enriched by a new section dedicated to Portuguese language and literature.
